This is a stunning kitchen design. It masterfully balances traditional, high-relief Moroccan woodwork with sleek, modern elements.
Here is a breakdown of the design elements, materials, and stylistic choices that make this space work so beautifully:
Cabinetry & Woodwork
The Technique: The star of the room is the intricate mousharabia and geometric carving. The doors feature traditional Islamic geometric patterns (star polygons) with deep relief, creating incredible texture and shadow play.

Material & Finish: The rich, warm tone suggests a premium wood like **walnut or cedar. Rather than a high-gloss finish, it has a sophisticated matte or satin oil finish that lets the natural grain and the carving detail take center stage.
Modern Integration: Notice how the structure of the cabinetry remains clean and linear. The ornate panels are framed within simple, modern cabinet boxes, which keeps the kitchen looking contemporary rather than dated.
Countertops & Backsplash
The Countertop: The use of a heavily veined black marble or quartzite (with an integrated under-mount sink) provides a sharp, luxurious contrast to the warm wood. The dark stone anchors the lower cabinets and adds a modern, high-end edge to the space.

The Backsplash: The small, square tiles look like natural stone or a subtle Zellige/Bejmat variant* in a neutral, sandy beige. By keeping the color muted and the grout lines tight, the backsplash adds a soft, organic texture without competing with the intense patterns on the cabinets.
Lighting & Hardware
Pendant Lights: The two oversized, perforated brass pendant lights are classic Moroccan craftsmanship. The intricate metalwork (often called *Moroccan filigree*) ensures that when lit, they will cast beautiful, diffuse geometric shadows across the walls and ceiling.
Fixtures: The antique brass/bronze bridge faucet matches the warm undertones of the wood and complements the pendant lights perfectly, maintaining a cohesive metal palette.

Flooring: Terracotta Flooring: The floor appears to be traditional **Bejmat or terracotta tiles** laid in a herringbone pattern. The earthy, rustic tone of the clay balances the starkness of the black marble and ties the whole room together with a grounded, authentic feel.
Why the Design Succeeds
It avoids looking overwhelming because it respects visual hierarchy. Because the cabinetry patterns are so visually complex, the designer wisely kept the rest of the elements—the backsplash, the smooth stone countertops, and the neutral walls—relatively simple and monochromatic.

Mousharabia Lattice Woodwork
• Detail: Features extensive use of intricate Mousharabia latticework on the cabinet doors and drawer fronts.
• Aesthetic & Utility: Delivers a highly textured, geometric aesthetic that feels both airy and substantial while allowing subtle air circulation.

Zellij Tile Surfaces
• Components: Countertop and backsplash options are tailored around traditional handmade Zellij terracotta tiles.
• Color Palette: Classic deep emerald "forest" green, providing a rich, organic contrast to the warm tones of the natural wood.
• Authenticity: Showcases unique, slight irregularities in the hand-chiseled surfaces that catch light dynamically.

Ambiance & Accents
• Lighting Integration: Designed to pair with filigree accents and lighting that cast intricate, lace-like shadow patterns across the space for a warm, ambient glow.
